Spring is in the air! In this latest roadmap installment, we will share Avada 8.0 progress and the latest news regarding Avada 8 Sandbox Alpha.

Avada 8 Progress Update & Alpha Testing

We initially planned to kick off the sandbox alpha testing phase in March. However, we’ve decided to adjust the timeline. The reason? We’re introducing key improvements that will significantly enhance the Avada 8 experience. While this means a short delay, it also ensures that early testers will get access to a more refined and feature-complete version of the live builder.

Avada 8 Sandbox

Following on from the February Roadmap post let’s take a look at what’s new.

Expanding Element Control & Styling

One of the most significant updates is introducing an additional layer to our element system, enabling even more flexibility and control. These improvements require foundational framework updates, pushing back the sandbox testing start date. However, we’re making great progress, and if all goes to plan, we anticipate launching the sandbox phase in April.  The key features we are laying the foundations for are:

Full Responsive Control

Instead of responsive control being limited to only a select number of options, each CSS-based option supporting responsive control will do so. This also extends to state-based styling.  So, you will have fine control over the hover and active state of elements.

Class-Based Styling for Multiple Element Types

In the December roadmap post, we revealed Global Styles for elements.  These continue to be the foundation of element styling in Avada 8 and offer global control for all element options.  Although already CSS class-based, these global options are element-specific.

In addition to these Global Element Styles, we also want to introduce Class Styles, which you can create and apply to different element types.  This feature offers extra flexibility and control over how you build your website.

Sandbox Alpha Phase: What to Expect

When the Avada 8 sandbox alpha starts, it will be a controlled testing environment with select power users. Here’s how it will work:

  • We will prioritize users with multiple licenses or a strong history of engagement with Avada. If you have signed up already, don’t worry – we have your application and will process these when the sandbox is ready.
  • These users will get hands-on access to the new live builder experience to try out the builder process on a page designed by our design team.
  • They’ll be able to provide direct feedback and ask questions about the development.
  • This phase will be time-limited, after which we will return to development until we’re ready for a full beta.

To be clear, this is not the full beta—instead, it’s an early look at the new building experience and workflow. We appreciate our users’ patience and can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on.

FAQs

It is too early in the development process to give an exact ETA for Avada 8. Before release, we will have a public Beta and full launch announcements. 8 Will be the next major update; however, in the meantime, more maintenance releases will be pushed out.
Building a new website with Avada should not be contingent on an upcoming version. Get started today!
